The rules are to share covers related to the weekly theme where you include the original cover, the cover from your country, your favorite, and your least favorite. I’ve decided to go for a top 3 and bottom 3 arrangement, because that’s more fun and I get to showcase more covers.

This week’s theme is “It’s almost the end of the year… Choose one of your favorite books of 2016!” I have to pick a book that I read in 2016, not a book that came out in 2016 as I don’t think I’ve read a lot of new releases. And I just really wanted to do this book, ok. I went with The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater. I just found it to be such a beautiful book, it took me completely by surprise. It was so much more complex than I’d thought it would be. I’m dying to continue the series.

I actually dislike this one quite a bit. I think it’s the font on the author’s name that really cheapens the look.

This week’s theme is “Book with an Eye Candy Cover. Choose a book that you read/bought because of the cover.” I have picked up a lot of books for the cover, but I’m going with Me and Earl and the Dying Girl for this one because this cover is so fantastic. And so is the title. I had read the synopsis and some reviews beforehand, but it’s the cover that drew me towards it the most. Sadly, the book didn’t impress me much.

It’s just fantastic. I love it so much.

This week’s theme is “a book you want to read this summer.” I’m planning on finally getting to I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson. I don’t know if the book itself is summery, but the title and cover is so it fits.

ORIGINAL COVER

Simple and colorful, I love it.

Book Traveling Thursday (22) | I Wish I’d Read This As A Child!

This week’s theme is “a book you would read in your childhood if you could go back in time.” I interpret this as a book you’ve read as a teen/adult but wish you’d read as a child instead, so I’m going with A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket. I read the first book, The Bad Beginning, in 2014 and I enjoyed it but I probably would have devoured this series whole as a child. I wish I’d seen these in the library back then. I’m especially mad I missed this whole train because of the Netflix series.

I love these. Love, love, love them. They look so nice together on a shelf.

This week’s theme is “Favorite LGBTQ+ couple“. I wish I could pick one from the L side of things but I haven’t read that many books with f/f couples yet, damn. And I’ve already done Ari & Dante and I feel like everyone’s picked Simon VS. the Homo Sapiens Agenda for this, so I’m going with something different. More Norwegian books, yay! I chose Jarle and Yngve from Mannen Som Elsket Yngve (The Man Who Loved Yngve) by Tore Renberg. I read it back in 2008 maybe so it’s been quite some time, but I love this book, and the movie as well.

I don’t think it’s been translated into English, sadly, but if you know any of the other languages it’s been translated into I totally recommend reading it. And the movie has subs so you could watch that too, because the movie’s great.

ORIGINAL COVER

This is a strange cover but it’s kinda nostalgic for me so I don’t mind it, even though it doesn’t tell you anything about the book. I wish the font was more exciting though.

This week’s theme is “Because friendship matters choose your favorite bookish BFF. I’m not sure whether this mean favorite character who could be your BFF in real life, or favorite friendship in books. I’m going with the last one because it’s more interesting. I chose to go with a recent read, Mike and Jared from The Rest of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness.

I wouldn’t go as far as to call it my favorite friendship ever (because Harry, Ron and Hermione exist) but I really enjoyed their friendship and I want to look at this book’s covers SOOO.

ORIGINAL COVER

the rest of us just live here

I like it because it highlights the ordinary people in the midst of all the special kids (“indie kids”) but at the end of the day it makes it look too middle grade.  I think this cover came before the other one but correct me if I’m wrong, I just remember seeing this first.

Book Traveling Thursday (19) | A book that makes me laugh

This week’s theme is “a book that makes you laugh.” I’m going with a Norwegian book, Den Sommeren Pappa Ble Homo (The summer dad turned gay) by Endre Lund Eriksen. It’s probably the funniest book I’ve ever read. Or heard, since I listened to it on audio. It’s about 12 year old Arvid and his dad, who are on summer holiday in their caravan. In a house next door lives 12 year old Indiane (who may or may not be interested in Arvid, which is awkward) and her dad, who’s gay and spends a suspicious amount of time with Arvid’s dad… which is even more awkward.

The audiobook is read by the author, in his own dialect, and I think that really makes the humor in this book. I’m not sure I would find is as funny in written form, but who knows.

This book only has four different covers to choose from, so I won’t be able to do my usual top and bottom 3 😦

ORIGINAL COVER

16112389

This cover is very retro looking, I think it’s the font. I don’t mind it. Also, someone tell Goodreads that the synopsis on the Norwegian edition of this book is in French lmao.
