Mid-year book freak-out tag

*crawls out of the woodwork*  Uh, hi! I’m alive, I swear, I’ve just been too distracted by other things to blog recently. I started volunteering for AO3 (Archive of our own) so I’ve been busy with that almost every time I’ve been on my computer. I’ve slowly been getting back into Instagram, so I’ll try to get back into blogging as well. 

No promises though! 

But I’ll 100% get better at at least reading and commenting on what you guys post even if I don’t post much myself:D I’ve missed talking to you all.

the best books you’ve read so far in 2016

                                      

I read book 2-4 in The Raven Cycle this year, and I’m counting them as one since it’s a series. I liked the first three a tiny bit more than the last, but all in all it’s a glowing 5 star for the series. I’m also giving a shout-out to Bird Box. What a pageturner. Wow.

Top Ten Tuesday: Devoured in one sitting

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created and hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.  Today’s theme is a “Read In One Sitting Theme: ten of the shortest books I’ve read, top ten books I read in one sitting, ten books to read when you are short on time, top ten books that will make you read the whole day away, etc.”. I went with books I read in one sitting, or mostly one sitting. I won’t be including graphic novels or any type of cartoon or manga. 

The list goes from most recent read to the least recent.

Orbiting Jupiter by Gary D. Schmidt

This book straddles the line between middle grade and young adult, so it’s easy to read, plus it’s pretty short (just under 200 pages). That makes it an easy book to read if you have some extra time one day. I really recommend it, it will hit you right in the emotions.

The Rest of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness

This is a quick and easy read with both humor and seriousness. I loved the spin on the Chosen One trope and I imagined all the “indie kids” as the cast of The Vampire Diaries.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by John Tiffany & Jack Thorne

Most of us want to forget this exists, but at least it was quick to read?

The Unpopular Opinions Book Tag #2

Alrighty! This right here is one of my favorite tags, I absolutely love reading/watching people share their unpopular opinions on books.

I did this tag once before, back when I was first starting my blog in 2015. Obviously I’ve read a lot more since then and I wanted to do it again and update it. I won’t mention any of the books I did before to avoid being repetitive, but please do go back and read my other post as well if you’re into this sort of thing.
