www wednesday

Hey guys! It’s been a month since I did one of these so I thought I’d update you on what I’m reading.

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Samantha @ Taking On a World of Words where you answer the following questions:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

My main read right now is my ARC copy of Goodbye Days by Jeff Zentner. I’m a little over halfway through and I’ll just leave you with this gif, it accurately portrays my feelings on this book:

PAIN.

30809689I most recently finished Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman. I liked it, but it’s probably best suited for people who want to learn about Norse mythology and who didn’t grow up with these stories. Neil Gaiman hasn’t added anything new to the myths (which is fine!), he just retells them, so it’ll work perfectly for those who want easy access to the stories. They’re a lot of fun, I’d definitely recommend it. In short: Thor is kind of an idiot and Loki is a slippery SOB.

25394092AND THEN I FINISHED THE RAVEN CYCLE. [insert another crying
gif] I have a lot of feelings. A lot. The Raven King isn’t quite as good as the previous three, but come on, who cares. All in all this series gets a 5/5 from me. I want more. Now.

I don’t know yet. I think I might go on to History is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera, because I’m sure after I finish Goodbye Days I’ll want to cry some more… Other than that I’m planning on finishing that Norwegian zombie trilogy (I morgen er alt mørkt #3) I’ve written about in wrap-ups before.

I’m still listening to Lars Kepler’s The Nightmare on audio, I’m about halfway now. I’m only listening to it in the mornings while I get ready for work so that’s why it’s taking me some time but I’m enjoying it.

Then I did the Try a Chapter tag and decided to read More Happy Than Not. It’s been lying around on my kindle for ages so it was about time. I’m loving it so much, I had no idea it was (light) sci-fi! Also wow, it’s so tragic. I’m literally only about 10 minutes away from finishing it, and I’ll do it as soon as I’ve posted this.

Bird Box is the last book I finished and YES. I loved it, I devoured it whole. This is the book for you if you’re into post-apocalyptic scenarios where a group of survivors huddle together and try to get by, ala The Walking Dead just without zombies. It’s also a book for you if you like being creeped the hell out. And because it’s not YA there’s no boy drama or love triangles to steal the attention. Read it.

I haven’t quite decided yet, I’m a major mood reader, but it might be time for Blue Lily, Lily Blue (The Raven Cycle #3).  My body is ready to continue this series. I have some ARCs I need to get to as well though, like Goodbye Days by Jeff Zentner.

www wednesday

I haven’t done a WWW Wednesday in a long time, so I figured I would do one now and tell you guys what I’m reading.

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Samantha @ Taking On a World of Words where you answer the following questions:

caraval    all the light we cannot see    kepler the hypnotist
My main focus right now is Caraval by Stephanie Garber. I received a copy of it in the January Fairyloot box and I’m around 130 pages in. I’m not sure how I feel about it yet.

I also finally picked All the Light We Cannot See back up again; I had to put it down for a while to finish some other books. I’m really enjoying it though and I’m almost finished with it.

Then I’m listening to Lars Kepler’s The Nightmare on audio, but I’m listening to it in Norwegian. I’m barely an hour in so I can’t say much about it yet but I have a theory and I’ll be disappointed if I’m right.

svøm med dem som drukner   blue is the warmest color

The last book I read I finished today at the library, it’s a Norwegian novel called Svøm med dem som drunker (‘swim with those who drown’ would be my translation of the title). It’s a highly loved book here and I can see why, even if I preferred the first half and it lost me a little in the second.

Yesterday I read the graphic novel Blue is the Warmest Color. I’ve been wanting to read this one for years and finally got my hands on it. I’ll give you more of my thoughts on it in my review soon but I enjoyed most of it.

I actually have no idea what to read next because I’ve bought so many books lately. I think I’ll end up choosing between the following though. Maybe you can decide for me?

Which one do I devour first?

Book Traveling Thursday (25) | Favorite 2016 Read

bttnew3
It’s Thursday and time for another Book Traveling Thursday. This weekly meme was created by Cátia @ The Girl Who Read Too Much and Danielle @ Danielle’s Book Blog. Visit their Goodreads group to learn more about Book Traveling Thursday 🙂

The rules are to share covers related to the weekly theme where you include the original cover, the cover from your country, your favorite, and your least favorite. I’ve decided to go for a top 3 and bottom 3 arrangement, because that’s more fun and I get to showcase more covers.

This week’s theme is “It’s almost the end of the year… Choose one of your favorite books of 2016!” I have to pick a book that I read in 2016, not a book that came out in 2016 as I don’t think I’ve read a lot of new releases. And I just really wanted to do this book, ok. I went with The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater. I just found it to be such a beautiful book, it took me completely by surprise. It was so much more complex than I’d thought it would be. I’m dying to continue the series.

I actually dislike this one quite a bit. I think it’s the font on the author’s name that really cheapens the look.

Top 5 Wednesday (14) | Awesome First Sentences

top 5 wednesday

It’s been a while since I’ve done a T5W but I felt like I could answer this topic, so yay. Top 5 Wednesday was created by Lainey @ gingerreadslainey and is currently hosted by Sam @ ThoughtsOnTomes. If you want to join Top 5 Wednesday take a look at the Goodreads group!

The topic of today is

August 17th: Favorite First Sentences
— Pretty self-explanatory. Favorite first sentences of a book.

This topic was difficult for me because I only really remember two, maybe three, first sentences and only one of them is going on this list. So what I ended up doing was going through the books I have here at home and I picked the openings I like best. So these are probably not my “all-time favorites” but who cares. They’re good ones anyway.

Who doesn’t love the opening of Philosopher’s Stone?? It’s the only one I know by heart, apart from Pride and Prejudice

What’s your favorite opening? Do you like any of the ones I picked?

Top 5 Wednesday (13) | Sequel, please!

top 5 wednesday

It’s been a while since I’ve done a T5W but I felt like I could answer this topic, so yay. Top 5 Wednesday was created by Lainey @ gingerreadslainey and is currently hosted by Sam @ ThoughtsOnTomes. If you want to join Top 5 Wednesday take a look at the Goodreads group!

The topic of today is

July 13th: Books You Wish Had Sequels
— Standalones that you wish had a sequel or the last book in the series that you wish wasn’t the last.

Most of these aren’t books that I necessarily need a sequel to, but if there was one then I wouldn’t complain.

Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas

This is one of those books where I’m not really dying for a sequel, but it’d be fun. Or just a companion novel from another character’s POV could work too, that’d be interesting. If you haven’t read this book then you really should, it’s great, I gave it 5 out of 5 stars.

Book Traveling Thursday (24) | Totally bought this for the cover

This week’s theme is “Book with an Eye Candy Cover. Choose a book that you read/bought because of the cover.” I have picked up a lot of books for the cover, but I’m going with Me and Earl and the Dying Girl for this one because this cover is so fantastic. And so is the title. I had read the synopsis and some reviews beforehand, but it’s the cover that drew me towards it the most. Sadly, the book didn’t impress me much.
