make me read it readathon

Yesterday I spontaneously decided to join this readathon. I didn’t have a ton of time to get votes from you guys, but I got enough, so thank you everyone who voted! If you want to know more about what this readathon is about then check out my last post.

Here are the results

make me readathon

I’m not surprised by how this poll went down, haha.

Thus, my TBR this week is

I doubt I’ll get around to more than that, I don’t even know if I can finish all of these in a week because I’ve got work almost every day. I’ll try though! I’ve started The Raven Boys and I’m way more intrigued than I thought I’d be.

Follow me on twitter @anettesbooks for more updates through the readathon. I’ve already made some Raven Boys predictions.

Thank you again for voting!

Make Me Read It Readathon [POLL CLOSED]

make me read it readathon

Eeek! I spontaneously decided I wanted to join this readathon the day before it starts. Not ideal, especially not for a readathon that requires that people vote for the books you’re reading, but oh well, let’s try anyway. Even just a few votes will be helpful.

This readathon is hosted by Ely & Val.

It works like this

Look at the books you own, either physical, e-book or ones you’ve borrowed from the library and pick out a few you really want to read, or feel like you should read. It’s up to you how many you pick, personally I’d pick a few more than you expect to be able to read in a week. Example: if you think you’ll only read two, pick out five books or if you think you can read seven, pick out ten.

Make a list of these books on your blog, or make a video, or a Goodreads shelf or post a picture on Instagram—whatever is easiest for you. Then get friends, other bloggers/booktubers etc. to vote on which books you HAVE to read.

When the read-a-thon comes along, you read the books in the order of most votes. For example, if one book gets 10 votes—you read that first, then the one that got 7 and so on. If there’s a tie, then it’s your preference. The goal is to read as many as possible.

When is it happening?

The read-a-thon will take place from the 9th to the 16th of July in your timezone.

You can vote for the following books

I’ll probably go with 3-4 of them, depending on how many votes I manage to get. If any…

Please only vote for maximum 3 books.

POLL IS CLOSED, COME BACK LATER FOR THE RESULTS

Let me know what you voted! Like I said, there’s only about 7 hours left until it’s the 9th in my timezone, so please help me out 😀 And if you’re like me, still frantically collecting votes, feel free to post a link to it and I’ll give you a vote as well.

Read-Your-Bookshelf-A-Thon Round 7 TBR!

rybsat tbr

Round 7 of RYBSAT, Read Your Bookshelf-A-Thon, is here! This is a readathon created by BooKss101 over on YouTube. I joined round 6 too, you can read my TBR and wrap-up posts for that if you’d like.

This round runs from the 19th to the 25th of January

About this readathon: Pick a spot on your bookshelf, and read as much as you can in that direction. You can skip a book you’ve already read (I think) and if you hit a series then you don’t have to read the entire series, just one book and then move on. Pretty simple stuff!

Rybsat official twitter: @rybsat15

I picked out this spot on my bookshelf, starting with a book I’ve wanted to read for a long time but never got around to. rybsat

The crossed out section are books I’ve already read, so I’m moving on to the shelf underneath this one.

rybsat

Here I’m also skipping the books I’ve already read, thus my TBR pile looks like this:

rybsat

The Girl With All the Gifts – Alright, so this one isn’t on the bookshelf, but since I’m reading it right now (halfway through) I’m going to finish it as part of the readathon anyway, unless I finish it today before midnight but I doubt it.

Wonder – I’m so intrigued by this, I hope I’ll enjoy it.

Room I’ve had this on my shelf since 2011 and now when it’s become a movie I should really get my ass into gear and read it.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone I hope I can get this far because I’m dying to read this book and find out if it’s worth the hype.

Throne of GlassI doubt I’ll get this far but if I do then it’s about time, right? I feel like the only person in the world who hasn’t read Throne of Glass.

What do you think of my TBR? Are you participating in RYBSAT? What are you reading?

TBR book tag

I wasn’t tagged, but I got this tag from sociallyawkwardbookworm, she said she tagged anyone who wanted to do it and hey, I’m bored and it’s 4AM so why not.

How do you keep track of your TBR pile?

Short answer is I don’t! I just let it grow and then pick whatever book I feel like reading at the moment. I have a to-read shelf and a want-to-read-in-2015 shelf for the books I really want to get to this year for sure.

Is your TBR mostly print or eBook?

Definitely print. I prefer physical books but I do own a kindle for the books I can’t get my hands on as well as when I’m out and about.

How do you determine which book from your TBR to read next?

Honestly I just pick whatever I most feel like reading. Though a lot of the books in my TBR are books I don’t own, so the ones I actually own will always be a priority until I get on a book buying spree.

A book that’s been on your TBR list the longest?

Charlotte Isabel Hansen

.

I have plenty that’s been on it for years, whoops. The one that’s been on mine the longest is actually a Norwegian book, Charlotte Isabel Hansen. It’s the third book in the series about Jarle Klepp. I read the first one many years ago (and loved it), then started the second but kind of forgot to finish it so they’ve both been chilling in my bookshelf ever since then. I’ll get back to them. Some day.

.

A book you recently added to your TBR?

.

I added Slasher Girls & Monster Boysan anthology of young adult thrillers and horrors. Some of the authors included in it are Marie Lu, Kendare Blake, and Nova Ren Suma. It seemed interesting so onto my TBR it went. And look at that cover, it’s great.

.

.

A book on your TBR strictly because of its beautiful cover?

.

Lois Lane: Fallout. I mean, look at that. It’s awesome. I want it on my shelf right this instant. It sounds good as well, I love me some Lois Lane, but I admit the cover is part of my strong urge to buy it. I’m weak when it comes to good book covers, but then again I can miss out on good books that way by going straight past a bad cover in the book store. Oh well.

.

A book on your TBR that you never plan on reading.

.

Ouch, that’s harsh. But unfortunately it happens. Not too long ago I went and deleted quite a few books I knew for sure I don’t have interest in anymore, but there are still quite a few unlikely reads on there, like P.S. I Love You. I’m not that into pure romance books and “chick lit” (I hate that term, this genre needs a new name). I’ll watch the movie though, eventually, as I’ve owned that one for years too.

.

An unpublished book on your TBR that you’re excited for?

.

I don’t think I have any unpublished books on my TBR at the moment. I need to pay more attention, it seems. I’m gonna go with a recently published book that I’m excited for instead, which is More Happy Than Not. It seems great, I want it now.

.

.

A book on your TBR that everyone has read but you?

.

Daughter of Smoke & Bone. I want to read it so badly but I can’t for the life of me find the US hardcovers for an affordable price. The bookstores here only sell the UK covers and I’m not about that life. The US ones are gorgeous, I drool every time I see those spines. Literally the only thing keeping me from reading this book is that I can’t find the right cover. Sigh.

.

A book on your TBR that you’re dying to read?

.

The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender. Not only is this one of the most gorgeous covers I’ve ever seen (pictures does it no justice, you have to see it in real life) but I’ve heard nothing but great things about this book. It seems really unique and I can’t wait to read it. Plus the title is great too. Everything about this one just seems amazing.

.

A book on your TBR that everyone recommends to you?

.

The Martian. It’s everywhere and everyone keeps telling me to read it. I will do it sometime before the movie comes out, I promise.

.

.

.

How many books are on your Goodreads TBR shelf?

Not that many, actually. I try to not to let it get too out of hand. Currently I’ve got 135.

So that was fun. I don’t really know who I’d tag because this is a brand new blog and I don’t know anyone yet. If you want to do this, consider yourself tagged! Feel free to post a link to your post in the comments. 🙂
