Top Ten Tuesday | Books recently added to my TBR

top ten tuesday

This weekly meme was was created by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s theme is “Top Ten Books I’ve Recently Added To My TBR“.

I’m just going to show you the books from most recent to… not as recent?

These Vicious Masks by Tarun Shanker

these vicious masksThis book comes out February 9th and I’ve read some pretty interesting reviews of it. It’s supposed to be Jane Austen meets X-Men, set in Victorian London? Color me intrigued and sign me up.

Front Lines by Michael Grant

Front Lines by Michael GrantThis comes out January 26th. As a fan of Michael Grant’s Gone series I really want to read something else by him, but none of his other recent books have really interested me all that much. And then enter Front Lines. It intrigues me a lot because it’s a reimagining of World War 2 where women fight on the front lines. Nice.

My Heart and Other Black Holes by Jasmine Warga

My heart and other black holesI’ve wanted to read this for a long time but I haven’t remembered to add it to my actual Goodreads tbr until recently. All I know about it is that it’s a little dark and sad and depressing, which I tend to prefer when it comes to contemporaries.

Odinsbarn by Siri Pettersen

OdinsbarnThis is the first book in a Norwegian young adult fantasy series that’s really popular here. I don’t read as many Norwegian books as I probably should so I’ve made sure to add a few to my tbr. I don’t know if this is going to be translated into any other languages. It seems like it might be released in Swedish in May.

 Blodets Galskap by Elisabeth Øvreberg

26352855I know, the cover is horrendous. This is another Norwegian fantasy series inspired by vikings (which is the only type of fantasy Scandinavians do really, lmao). This one was released in 2015 by a debut author, so I’m interested to see what it’s like. I got it from the library back in December so I need to start it soon.

I picked it up after I went to a sort of presentation of the book during Pride Week where the author talked about it and read excerpts from it. The presentation focused on the gay main character in this book and how he, as a warrior who grew up in a society without love, learns what it means to love.

172 Hours on the Moon by Johan Harstad

172 hours on the moonThis is another Norwegian book, but this time there is an English translation that I can link you guys to, yay. I don’t know much about this except it’s about teenagers going to the moon? I don’t know, but I’ve seen some pretty good reviews on it.

A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro

a study in charlotteThe release date for this one is March 1st and I’m so intrigued by it, plus the cover is gorgeous. It’s about the great-great-grandchildren of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson, Jamie Watson and Charlotte Holmes. Apparently Jamie is a guy and I’m a bit miffed by that but oh well, I’ll live.

This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab

this savage song Victoria SchwabGorgeous cover! This one’s released June 7th 2016, that’s so loooong, I’m so sad. I want it now. It’s about monsters and war and it seems fast-paced and fun. I’ve only read good things about it this far from people who’ve read the ARC.

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

Carry On by Rainbow RowellI’m not that excited about this to be honest, but I’m too curious for my own good and I wonder what it’s like. I didn’t like the fanfiction excerpts in Fangirl, but it might be different in book form. I worry it’s going to be too obviously Harry/Draco though. I mean, if I want that I can just look online. We’ll see.

 Vicious #2 by V.E. Schwab

AASDFGHJJIGNIRHGPIRFHRE!!!!! I love Vicious, it’s one of my favorite books. I’m dying to read this sequel and it doesn’t even have a cover or a blurb or a title or anything yet. I’m just going to put up a tent right here and wait for it to be released.

give it to me gif

I have seen a lot of people talking about These Vicious Masks. It’s peaked my interest quite a bit!

I love contemporary books that focus on mental health. I have My Heart and Other Black Holes at home to dive into soon. Maybe we can share our thoughts on it sometime. 🙂

I honestly have no idea what it’s about, I was just intrigued by the cover and the “Jane Austen meets X-Men” thing, haha! I hope it’s as good as it looks and sounds.

We can definitely share thoughts on it when I’ve read it 😀 Hopefully I get to it soon, but I need to get a hold of it first.

My heart and other black holes is great. I wasn’t a fan of the fanfic parts of Fangirl either, so I wasn’t sure how I would feel about Carry On, but I ended up loving it, too much, to be completely honest I didn’t once had Harry/Draco feelings, or got that reminded of Harry Potter in general, and I even think I liked Carry On more than Harry Potter (ups… *hides in shame*)

Ever since I read Fangirl a few weeks ago I’ve been really intrigued to read Carry On. PS: I didn’t do a TTT this week but I did make a post about my 2016 TBR which you can check out here 😀

I just read Carry On and I loved it!!! It’s not like the fanfiction of Cath though, it’s like it’s own story, because it is also not the one Cath is writing the fanfiction about. I hope that sentence just made sense to you…

So should soon read it 😉 I should also read Carry on. Have it on my bookshelf, just waiting to be read 🙂 Rainbow Rowell is one of my favorite authors ever.. So yeah should really read it soon!!!

Yay, Norwegians! I’m glad to hear you enjoyed Odinsbarn, I’m going to have to get a hold of it soon. Might swing by the library and see if I can find it. I’m on the fence about Rainbow Rowell this far, I thought Fangirl was pretty meh but I really loved Eleanor & Park. Hopefully I like Carry On too 😀

Odinsbarn is absolutely fab! The book that really rekindled my love for creative writing on my own. I haven’t gotten my hands on the last in the series yet, Evna, and I really can’t wait. For me it’s very original, really well written and the book/series has the ability to properly surprise the reader.
